Product Description

The mission: to rescue an important American General from the hands of the German high command. The obstacle: the most inaccessible fortress in the world. The stakes: the very outcome of World War II.

Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood star as Allied agents on a daring suicide mission in this taut, epic adventure. American General Carnaby, a key palnner of the all-important campaign to free Europe from the Nazis, has been captured by the German army and taken to Schloss Adler, an impregnable castle perched high in the Bavarian Alps. To rescue the general before he is forced to talk, the Allied forces have chosen a group of special agents to infiltrate the fortress. British Major Smith (Burton) leads the team, which includes Lieutenant Schaffter (Eastwood), an American Ranger specializing in assassination, and Mary Ellison (Mary Ure), Smith's beautiful contact. But from the beginnning, the plan is jeopardized by a ruthless German double agent. And it soon becomes chillingly clear that no one can be trusted.
